Organized by Free Tech Institute (FREETI), the SecureNet Summit 2026 is a digital security and privacy awareness event held in Burundi to mark Global Encryption Day.

Under the theme of promoting safer digital practices, the summit aims to transform awareness of online security and encryption into practical everyday habits. It will bring together students, young people, journalists, media professionals, civil society organizations, entrepreneurs, technology professionals, public institutions, and other individuals interested in protecting their digital lives.

Through expert presentations, practical demonstrations, and interactive discussions, participants will learn about the importance of encryption in protecting personal information and securing digital communications. The event will also cover essential digital safety practices, including two-factor authentication (2FA), password managers, passkeys, secure browsing, and smartphone privacy and security settings.

Beyond raising awareness, the SecureNet Summit seeks to empower participants to take concrete steps toward protecting their personal data, strengthening their digital resilience, and contributing to a safer and more trusted internet in Burundi.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders, Free Tech Institute aims to foster collaboration and promote a stronger culture of digital security, privacy, and responsible internet use.
