The SECURENET Summit 2025 : Online Safety & Encryption in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is a one-day multi-stakeholder event designed to equip participants with practical skills to protect themselves and their organizations from AI-powered cyber threats while defending the right to strong end-to-end encryption (E2EE). With the rise of generative AI tools, cybercriminals can launch more sophisticated phishing attacks, produce convincing deepfakes, and automate disinformation campaigns.
Our goals are to:
– Raise awareness about AI-related online safety risks and how to mitigate them.
– Provide hands-on training on essential security measures such as password managers, 2FA/passkeys, encrypted messaging, and media verification techniques.
– Foster policy dialogue on safeguarding encryption in the AI era, bringing together government, civil society, and private sector voices.
– Encourage adoption of E2EE and best practices within institutions, businesses, and community groups.
The summit builds on the success of the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions, which attracted wide participation across sectors in Burundi.
